loved

being able to get a table outside and stay put for the whole evening
people watching & surry hills fashion
casual vibe
low key pub gub menu – all the comfort classics with a few modern creations
being able to order from the full menu in all of the bars
crispy beer batter on the fish & chips
house made tartare sauce
wine list a bit more interesting than your standard pub options

didn’t love

the crowd at the balcony bar. way too busy for a sunday night
overdressed, over cheesy rocket, pear & parmesan salad
being a little picky for pub food but hated that there was way more batter than fish on the plate (although for those with a serious hangover it wasn’t a bad thing)

ate

little creatures battered fish & chips x 2
rocket, pear & parmesan salad
waguy beef burger x 2
steak sandwich on turkish bread

drank

2009 Mudgee Riesling
2007 Mr Riggs Shiraz, McLaren Vale
Lemon Lime & Bitters (for those that had been on a bucks do the day before)
Carlton Draught

value

good – about $35 for 2 + drinks (no BYO)

reservations

none taken but you can eat anywhere in the front bar

perfect for

a casual, inexpensive sunday dinner with mates when no one feels like cooking
