I can’t believe that tomorrow night I’m finally going to be dining at the best restaurant in the world.
I also can’t believe that I’m going to be dining with a fellow food lover who has just flown in from Canada, who I found via a competition. Seems more like something I dreamed.
Anyway elBulli have announced that they are taking email requests for reservations for the 2010 season in the first 2 weeks of January. For more information please see the elBulli website.
I won’t be applying – would be pushing my luck surely. But for anyone that’s interested I thought I’d share the email that landed me said reservation. Best of luck with your quest. And if you are successful would love to hear about your own elBulli story.

Dear Lluis
First I’d like to apologise that I only speak English and wish I were able to write to you in your beautiful language.
The day after I sent the email request below, my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to attend a talk given by Ferran at the State Theatre in Sydney and he mentioned that you have the task of managing the bookings.
I just wanted to let you know that seeing Ferran speak was an incredibly inspirational event and that now more than ever we are hungering to dine at the Bulli and experience the ‘language of the Bulli’ that Ferran spoke of.
As a food scientist who studied in Australia and has been working in the industry primarily in breakfast cereals and my current role at Australia’s leading biscuit manufacturer, I am very excited about the work that is happening at the Bulli. I think that it is marvellous that food science is being used to create art in the form of gastronomy. It was great to see Ferran describing some new techniques that the team has developed and to see ingredients such as ‘Isomalt’ being used.
Apart from actually working in the food industry I also have a food blog (web site) as a hobby where I get to indulge in writing stories and recipes and experimenting with my food photography. If you are interested, I would be honoured if you had a chance to visit: http://thestonesoup.com.
We would be most grateful if you could squeeze us in for a lunch or dinner for 2 in either June or July next year. However if that was not possible we would be willing to change our travel plans to visit the Costa Brava later in the year if required.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
JULES
